Several Agencies Team Up To Fight H1N1

Facing a possible pandemic, several agencies are working to combat the disease and its possible spread. Through the agencies’ efforts, they are trying to keep the public well informed covering numerous topics. Not only are we told where the H1N1 virus has been discovered, we are also informed of the best ways to avoid the virus.

On the CDC’s website, we are given guidance on the following:

  • Guidance for Schools, Colleges, and Universities
  • Guidance for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women
  • Guidance for Specific Audiences

They also give guidance for caregivers who are taking care of patients.  There is also guidance for Emergency Medical personnel.

On the FDA’s H1N1 Virus Update Page, you’ll find

  • H1N1 Virus and Blood Safety
  • A Question and Answer Section on the Virus and Food
  • A Warning About Fraudulent Influenza Products

On the website for the American Medical Association, there is timely, concise, and up-to-date clinical guidance, treatment information, resources, and news, along with an update from the World Health Organization.

The World Health Organization has just raised the current level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 4 to phase 5.  WHO is tracking the pandemic at the epidemiological, clinical, and virological levels.  They also have videos and audio available.

At the National Institutes of Health website, the  National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is providing the latest in influenza research including Vaccine Research and the latest in Advances in Treatment.

On the Health and Human Services website, you’ll find a video of President Obama discussing the government’s response to the H1N1 flu virus along with updates and question and answer sessions.
